Tree

My tree has seemed to grow since I last saw it.
I was named Julian because my parents liked it.
My name means youthful and bearded.
My tree’s name is Mustard because its leaves are yellowish.  The ant’s name is Tiny because it is tiny.
Optimist means a person who tends to be hopeful and confident about the future or the success of something. Pessimist means a person who tends to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst will happen.
I am a little bit of both.
In some situations, I am an optimist, but in others I am a pessimist. A situation where I am an optimist is when I take a test that I have studied for. A situation where I am a pessimist is when I am getting bad grades.

Tree Book

This is a book that I made at school with my class. We made it with Ms. Gignoux (https://gignouxart.com/) and it involved a lot of fun art techniques, like screen printing, silk screens, and ink printing. We also collaged different colors on envelopes, where we put writing pieces we had done. When we finished, the tree books went on display at an art gallery. These are some of my writing pieces that went in my envelopes.

SALUTE TO MY ROOTS! By Julian Woodard

My dad has inspired me to try my best in everything that I do. He is my biggest role model because he is so hardworking. I aspire to be just like him when I grow up. He played baseball as a kid and wanted to go pro, and he never gave up on his dream, which led to him playing in college and getting drafted to the biggest and most famous baseball league on Earth. His persevering mentality is the reason why he is my idol and hero.

My mom is one of the biggest leaders in my life. She drives me to be as smart as she is one day. She’s also taught me how to make friends. Because of her, I strive to change the world for the better. She pushes me to study hard, so I can get high grades and be accepted into a good college. My mom is also a great friend and helps me whenever I am struggling with anything. She is my hero because of her caring personality.

My grandmother is one of the most loving and supportive people that I have ever met. She stops whatever she’s doing to talk to me over the phone. Whenever she is around, everybody is always in a good mood. She is the glue that holds our family together and never gets angry or upset. My grandmother is a great role model and person.

My brother is a great person and has a kind heart. Whether he’s tutoring me (to make money) babysitting me (to make money) or coaching me in basketball (to make money) he always makes it fun. He’s also the smartest person I know and always brings in good grades. Tyler has a bright future in sports or academics, whichever he chooses to do.

My Life List:

  1. to be a straight-A student

I want to do this because I need to get good grades to be accepted into a good college (also part of the recruitment process)

  1. to get a basketball scholarship (optional)

This is important because it is the first step to the NBA, which is how I want to earn a living.

  1. to play D1 basketball/go to the G League

This is how I will get noticed by NBA scouts.

  1. to go to a good college (optional)

If I decide to go through the recruitment process, this will help me be noticed.

  1. to play pro basketball (G League and/or NBA)

This could happen as early as age 17 if I choose to go to the G League. Basketball is also my dream profession.

  1. to donate to people in need

I want to donate because many people throughout the world are homeless.

  1. to visit many countries

I love to travel and visit new places.

  1. to make more friends

This is important to me because I am not very good at making friends. I also think life is lonely without friends.

  1. to work for ESPN

I want to do this because I would like to be a sports reporter.

  1. to be a NBA coach

I want to do this because after I stop playing basketball, I want to still be involved with basketball.

5 things I want for the world are a cure to cancer, new and better technology, less crime/murder rates, world peace, and a solution for world hunger/poverty. These things will make the world a much better place.

I’m back, I guess

This is easily my longest post

My All-Star Picks (go vote at vote.nba.com)

The NBA has decided that there will be a March 7th All-Star Game in Atlanta and I wanted to share my picks.

East:

Guard: Trae Young (ATL)

This season, Young is averaging 27 points per contest and 9 assists, which I think should be enough to get him into the ASG, but if it’s not, he’s also shooting a career high percentage from three (0.369) and the line (0.891)

Guard: Jaylen Brown (BOS)

The Celtics star is going to be a problem for years to come, and this is definitely his breakout season. He’s averaging a career-high in points, assists, steals, blocks, three-point shooting, three-pointers made, field goals made, field goals, free throws made, free throws…..

See my point?

He’s putting up 26 a night. He should at least be a reserve.

Forward: Kevin Durant (BKN)
The East (and West) backcourt is a no-brainer. This man is averaging 30, 7 and 5, off an Achilles injury! He’s by far the best scorer in the NBA right now, and it helps that he’s got two other MVPs on his team (James Harden and coach Steve Nash) and the guy who, kinda, sorta, hit the biggest shot of the decade (Kyrie Irving).

Forward: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Oh, look! It’s the 2-time reigning MVP! Who would have thought he’d be up here?

In all seriousness, he’s having another great season, averaging a double-double with 27 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists.

three-peat?

Center: Joel Embiid

29 and 11. That’s all I have to say.

but I’ll say more!

The Sixers are 16-3 with him and 1-4 without him.

He’s led them to the 1st seed in the East.

After a while of tanking and playoff exits, is the Process finally over?

West:

Guard: Stephen Curry

No I’m not biased

So I was watching a group of NBA analysts give their ASG picks (that’s what inspired me to do this) and they had Luka and Donovan Mitchell as their West guards. Now, no hate to Spida, he’s a great player and he’s leading Utah to the first seed, and there is a lot of competition in the West, but what?

Steph Curry? You know he exists, right?

Averaging 30 ppg, he might have his second 50/40/90 season (48/43/94), a career high 6 rebounds, he’s had two 50 point games, second all-time in threes made, and, oh yeah! I forgot! He’s the best shooter to ever touch a basketball!

And if you’re saying, oh, he’s second all time, not first, he’s not the best shooter ever, well this is for you.

Ray Allen:

18 seasons in NBA, 2,973 threes made

Steph Curry:

11 seasons in NBA, 2,612 threes made

That means that Curry has to hit 361 threes by the end of his career to be first.

This season he’s hitting 4.9 a game.

If he keeps it up at this rate, he’ll surpass Ray in 74 games.

*cough, cough* the beginning of next season *cough, cough*

I completely forgot I was doing All-Star picks 😂

Guard: Damian Lillard

I’d accept pretty much any combo of Dame, Luka, Steph, and Donovan for the guards, but I chose the two I chose for a reason.

The ASG isn’t just about who has the best stats, it’s also about winning.

If Lonnie Walker IV (why was he the first NBA player that came to mind 😂😂😂) averaged 40, 20, and 15 with a Spurs team that had MJ, Bron, Wilt, Kareem, and Kobe, and they hadn’t won a game for some strange reason, I would not have Lonnie Walker as an All-Star.

Now you’re probably asking, why not Mitchell if it’s about winning?

Well, I didn’t say it was all about winning, it’s kind of a combo.

He’s averaging 29, 7 and 5 on a team that’s 6th in the West.

Forwards: Kawhi Leonard and LeBron James

If you’re still reading this, you follow basketball, and if you follow basketball, you most likely agree with me on this.

I know I’m all about the numbers, but come on. It’s arguably the greatest player ever and a guy who won FMVP at 22. Look it up if you want to know their stats.

Center: Nikola Jokić

This is really unrelated to Jokić but I just looked up the West standings and how are the Kings 7th?

Whatever, back to Nikola

He’s a 7 footer that plays like a guard, averages almost a triple-double (28, 12 and 9) and is just barely in the playoffs.

East reserves:

Guards: Kyrie Irving and James Harden

Forwards: Jayson Tatum and Khris Middleton

Center: Bam Adebayo

Last two guys who’ll get like three minutes of gameplay: Bradley Beal and Ben Simmons

West reserves:

Guards: Donovan Mitchell and Luka Dončić

Forwards: Paul George and Anthony Davis

Center: Rudy Gobert

Last two guys who’ll get like three minutes of gameplay: Devin Booker and Karl-Anthony Towns

still trying to figure out why I thought of Lonnie Walker in the Dame Lillard explanation
