Thanksgiving

Well, happy late Thanksgiving, I guess

Usually, we drive to my cousins’ house to celebrate, but this year, we obviously couldn’t because of the pandemic, but we still could video call family members to wish them a happy Thanksgiving.

Also, Klay Thompson injured his right leg last night at a workout.

The Warriors being my favorite team, I’m not happy about this, since Klay will most likely be out for another year, and he’s leaving his prime fast, but at least we have a rising star in Wiseman, who can fill in those starting-center needs that we have had for a long time. Also, with Marquese Chriss, Kevon Looney, and Eric Paschall off the bench, Golden State has some big-man depth. Eric Paschall had a promising first season on a bad, 15-50 Warriors team, so hopefully they can get back on track after losing in the Finals, Klay getting injured, KD leaving, Steph getting injured, D-Lo leaving, Alec Burks (their leading scorer last year) leaving, the season getting suspended, and Klay getting hurt again.

Halloween

So I’m not going trick-or-treating this year because of COVID, but we’re having a group of friends (social-distanced) over in our backyard for a party. We got a bunch of games, a pinata, and a ton of candy. We’re going to have my cousins over, too, and I hope it’s going to be fun.

(unrelated, but this is mainly a basketball blog so get used to seeing these in my posts: Rockets hire Stephen Silas)

Cousins

My cousins on my mom’s side came over from Tampa for 2 weeks and they’re super nice, especially my cousin Victoria and she’s the best. She loves to play with me and is so nice. Her older sister, Alexandria, just reads and plays with my sister Quinn and she does whatever Quinn says.

(Unrelated, but NBA coach firings and hirings: Pelicans hire Stan Van Gundy, Pacers hire Nate Bjorkgren)

NBA Finals

The 2020 NBA Champions are the Los Angeles Lakers, and there’s no more NBA until January 2021. Normally, the season would have started right about now, but with the 4-month hiatus, the entire season has been thrown off track. The next big event, the 2020 Draft, was scheduled to be tomorrow but is now on November 18th. I will be posting a lot less about the NBA, because the season’s over, but I will post about other things.

Coach hirings and firings: Clippers hire Tyronn Lue

Wow.

The Lakers really just went up 3-1.

Game 5 is at 9:00 on Friday, and if the 5-seeded Heat want to keep their title hopes alive, they need Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, and (hopefully) Goran Dragic to have huge games, because the 1-seeded Lakers have a talent-packed team. The Heat have three All-Stars in Butler, Adebayo and Dragic, phenom rookies in Herro and ROTY runner-up Kendrick Nunn, lights-out shooters in Herro, Duncan Robinson, Jae Crowder, Meyers Leonard and Kelly Olynyk, and just an all-around great team. The Lakers also have veteran leadership (the King himself, Rajon Rondo, JR Smith, Dion Waiters, Jared Dudley and Dwight Howard), young players (Kuzma and Caruso), All-Star talent (Bron, AD, Howard and Rondo) and floor spacers (the Brow, Howard, JaVale McGee, and Markieff Morris). Let’s see how the rest of the Finals play out.

Game 5 predictions? Comment below.

Coach hirings and firings: Bulls hire Billy Donovan, 76ers hire Doc Rivers, Nets hire Steve Nash, Knicks hire Tom Thibodeau, Rockets fire Mike D’Antoni, Pacers fire Nate McMillan, Pelicans fire Alvin Gentry

(Just something to think about: Dion Waiters will get a ring no matter what, because he played on the Heat at the beginning of the season and is now on the Lakers.)
